ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD
I would like to welcome all my Powerline brothers and sisters to my first blog / traveling Bible study / the world according to Tommie Johnson, etc. Hopefully discussing issues we all face in our Christian walk, which sometimes slows to a crawl as we face issues in life. I'll try to keep it simple, straight forward, honest, and to the point and if you stay tuned, we can grow together.
I'm starting this blog to get my connection back to you guys at Powerline Church. A little over 18 months ago, I started a new flying job with a major airline and my schedule has suffered greatly. I went from Church Board member and Sunday school teacher to being lucky to make it to church once a month. I really do miss you guys, even my buddy Frank Williams! For those of you that might not know, I make my living flying people all over the U.S., but beside my Faith and beautiful family, I love anything related to two wheels (motorcycles). I actually came to Powerline through the Uncaged Biker Ministry and that ministry will always have a special place in my heart. Without that ministry, I would not have met my beautiful wife Erica and there would be no Abby and Aaron. I would probably still be saved in my mind but lost in my heart looking for answers in all the wrong places. This would be a good place to start this discussion.
Imagine you’re a new Christian or someone who knows in their heart that there is more to life, something spiritual, and you have a lot of questions. How do we help these people? How do we reach people who might be open to Christianity but are afraid that their lives will become dull and boring after they are saved. Let's start out by keeping one of Christ's simple commands, LOVE THEM! ( Mark 12: 28-34 ). Love them without any judgement. ( Matthew 7:1 ) ( Luke 6: 37 ). We must always remember that we are all sinners and we ALL fall short of God's glory! ( Romans 3:23 ). We are all different and we all have skeletons in our closet that we're not proud of. My skeletons are different than yours but for some reason we want to believe that God understands our sin and our excuses for them but the bottom line is Sin is Sin period. In our minds there is some kind of sin scale that rates our sins not as bad as the sins of others. Sin is Sin. Jesus warned us about pointing out the speck in our Brothers eye forgetting that we have a plank sticking out of ours. Remember these 4 letters as you further your walk or help someone further theirs, K I S S - keep it simple stupid! Baby steps but start with love. This is not the time to argue Doctrine. You don't give a baby meat and potatoes so don't start a new Christian out in Revelation. We're after continuous growth. Many new Christians fall away from their new found faith from lack of guidance from the Body of Christ, Church, us! In other words, we're not practicing what we preach and they're tripping over us to get to Jesus.
Well I have an early flight in the morning and I've got to get some rest before I make some people's vacation dreams come true. We'll pick up where we left off next time, until then, God Bless!
